William KK Wu obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences from CUHK in 2009 and received post-doctoral training and later appointed as Research Assistant Professor in December 2011 in the Institute of Digestive Diseases, CUHK. He joined the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care as an Assistant Professor in December 2014 and then promoted to Associate Professor in July 2018. He has published more than 230 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, including Annals of Oncology, Molecular Biology and Evolution, Cell Research, Gut and Cancer Research, and 6 book chapters with citations over 8,500 and an h-index of 44 (Scopus). His research interests include autophagy, cancer genomics and biology, and evolutionary medicine. His research achievements have been recognized both nationally and internationally. He has been awarded the Outstanding Research Postgraduate Student Award by HKU, the Young Researcher Award by CUHK, the First-class Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award (Natural Science) by the Ministry of Education of China, the Second-class State Natural Science Award, and FRCPath by the Royal College of Pathologists (London, UK). In the capacity of Principal Investigator, he has obtained numerous external competitive grants, including 5 Health and Medical Research Fund, 1 RGC-Early Career Scheme, 1 RGC-General Research Fund and 3 Shenzhen Science and Technology Programme, with a total amount of 13 million HK dollars.
